With a passion for teaching, Dr. Abdul Samad is serving academia in the capacity of Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University (TIU), Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq. He served the same university in the capacity of Rector (President), and as President, he represented the university on the Board of Trustees of TIU and chaired the University Finance Committee and University Council at TIU. In his tenure as President, TIU have surged from 5233 to 3129 in the world ranking as per Webometrics 2023. He chaired many international accreditation programs from European countries, like ASIIN accreditation from Germany. He joined TIU's Faculty of Pharmacy in November 2019 as an Asst. Professor. Previously, as a founder Dean (Director), he established and developed a Pharmacy College in India in 2018–19. Prior to that, he taught at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University in Alkharj, Saudi Arabia (2011to 2018) and King Saud University in Riyadh (2008–2011). He has served on numerous accreditation committees for NCAAA, ACPE, and AQ Austria, among others. He has conducted numerous hands-on training sessions for instruments such as Ion Chromatography, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, HPLC, and microwave digestion systems, for Saudi Graduates and employees.
Dr. Abdul Samad also contributes to the scientific community by volunteering as a reviewer and editorial board member for a number of prestigious national and international journals.
His primary area of research is the design of bioactive molecules using 3D-QSAR and docking approaches to gain insight into the binding mechanism of ligands with target proteins, followed by the synthesis of several small molecules such as Quinazolinones, Oxadiazoles, Thiadiazoles, and Benzohydrazides. Apart from publishing numerous, Patesnts, book chapters and research articles, he has received three research grants totaling $38,000 from the Deanship of Scientific Research at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University in Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia.
